Carmel Farmstays & Tours offers rural Waitomo farmstay accommodation in a large modern homestead, 19km south of Te Kuiti. Guests can enjoy home-cooked meals, peaceful gardens, a pool, farm experiences by arrangement and easy access to Waitomo caves, the Timber Trail and King Country day trips.
Welcome to our large modern Country Homestead set in a picturesque limestone valley. Barbara and Leo Anselmi operate a 3500-acre sheep, beef and dairy farm. By arrangement you are welcome to observe or participate in some of the farming activities, or just relax in the garden or pool.
You will be treated to delicious home-cooked meals and the warmth of our friendship. Whether mustering mobs of cattle and sheep, viewing the milking of 550 Friesian cows, driving around the rolling hills on the 4 wheeled farm-bike, basking in the sun by the pool or enjoying the gardens, you will feel relaxed and rejuvenated.
The 4 bedrooms offer a variety of room configurations - from single to king-size beds and either ensuite or guest-only bathrooms.
We adjoin a challenging rural golf course (visitors welcome). It is an easy drive to Waitomo with its variety of caving experiences, between passive and adrenalin-rush. A number of other activities including horse trekking, quad biking, and shopping for New Zealand clothing and souvenirs are available in Waitomo.
The Timber Trail is nearby, making Carmel Farmstays a practical rural base for travellers exploring Waitomo, Pureora Forest Park and the wider King Country.
Ideal stopping-off place when travelling between Auckland and Taranaki. Also explore the Pureora Forest park and Tongariro National Park and Whakapapa ski area as a day trip. We look forward to sharing our large country home with you.
